Cold & Cryogenic Insulation
EXELT Contracting delivers specialist cold and cryogenic insulation solutions for industrial facilities across the UAE and the wider Middle East. Our systems are designed to minimise heat gain, improve energy efficiency, control condensation and protect process integrity in demanding low-temperature environments. We support projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.
Cold and Cryogenic Insulation Explained
Cold insulation is generally used for systems operating between -5°C and -50°C. Cryogenic insulation is engineered for temperatures below -50°C and may be required for services approaching -200°C or lower. Reliable temperature control is essential in LNG and LPG processing, refrigeration plants, petrochemical terminals and cold-storage facilities, including major industrial zones such as Dubai Industrial City, ICAD in Abu Dhabi and Hamriyah Free Zone in Sharjah.
Industries We Serve
Our cold and cryogenic insulation services support a wide range of industrial operations, including:
-
Oil and gas refineries in Abu Dhabi and Ruwais
-
Petrochemical complexes in Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain
-
LNG and LPG facilities in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah
-
Cold-chain warehouses in Dubai and Ajman
-
Power and desalination plants across the UAE and GCC
Why Effective Insulation Matters
-
Reduced thermal gain: Limits heat transfer from the surrounding environment into chilled and cryogenic systems.
-
Condensation and corrosion control: Helps prevent moisture build-up and corrosion under insulation.
-
Improved process efficiency: Maintains stable operating temperatures and protects products such as LNG and LPG.
-
Enhanced personnel safety: Reduces exposure to extremely cold surfaces.
-
Lower operating costs: Supports long-term energy savings and reduces stress on equipment.
Insulation Materials
We select insulation materials according to operating temperature, environmental exposure, fire performance and mechanical requirements. Available solutions include:
-
Polyurethane foam (PUR): A practical solution for low- to medium-temperature services.
-
Polyisocyanurate foam (PIR): High thermal performance for industrial pipework and equipment.
-
Cellular glass: Non-combustible and water resistant for demanding onshore and offshore environments.
-
Aerogel insulation: A thin, high-performance option for space-constrained LNG and cryogenic applications.
-
Rubber and elastomeric foams: Well suited to chilled-water systems and ductwork.
-
Multilayer jacketing systems: Added protection for high-vibration and cryogenic installations.
Applications
Our insulation systems can be engineered and installed for:
-
Above-ground and underground pipelines
-
Vertical and spherical storage tanks
-
Valves, elbows and fittings
-
Skid-mounted process equipment
-
Cryogenic gas separators and pumps
